DENTISTRY

Dentistry is one of the branches of medical science, where medical students learn about various aspects of dental science. In today’s time, Dentistry is the coveted field of study among students. In India, there are many Dental Colleges which offers dental studies.
Students who wish to pursue dentistry as a profession, has to enroll him/her into Bachelor of Dental Surgery(BDS) at bachelors level .Students who wish to become masters in one field of dental science can get into MDS(Masters of Dental Surgery).There are several diploma courses as well for dental students.
In dentistry, students learns various subjects like oral pathology, Orthodontics, Pedodontics, Dental material Science, General and Dental Pharmacology and Therapeutics and many more. Dentists learn to examine mouth and teeth, prepare and execute plans for the treatment and restoration of teeth. They are responsible for helping patients to maintain a healthy mouth and teeth.

Dentistry as a career has opened many career options for dental students. After pursuing Dentistry, one can work as a dentist in following sectors:-

• Nursing Homes
• Health Departments
• Teaching Departments in Dental colleges
• Work in the Research and Advisory functions of pharmaceutical and other companies producing oral care products and medicines like toothpaste, mouth wash, and gum care products.
